Directions and Parking

UMBC’s address is 1000 Hilltop Circle, Baltimore, MD 21250, and the road that encircles the main part of campus is Hilltop Circle. We’re located about 10 minutes from downtown Baltimore and about 25 minutes from I-495. And we’re easy to visit — the campus is just off I-95 and close to I-695.

From Baltimore and points north, proceed south on I-95 to exit 47B. Take Route 166 toward Catonsville and then follow signs to the campus. At the second roundabout, take a left to merge onto the inner loop of Hilltop Circle, turn right at the traffic light at Hilltop Road (for most destinations — see list below), and then an immediate left into Lot 8. (If your destination is the Library, stay on Hilltop Circle past Hilltop Road, and then take a right at the traffic light at Walker Avenue, and continue to the entrance of visitor parking at Walker Avenue Garage on your right.)

From I-695, take Exit 12C (Wilkens Avenue) and continue one-half mile to the entrance of UMBC at the intersection of Wilkens Avenue and Hilltop Road. Turn left at the roundabout. Proceed straight through the traffic light at Hilltop Circle (for most destinations — see list below), and then take an immediate left into Lot 8. (If your destination is the Library, turn left on Hilltop Circle, and then take a right at the traffic light at Walker Avenue, and continue to the entrance of visitor parking at Walker Avenue Garage on your right.)

From Washington and points south, proceed north on I-95 to Exit 47B.

Most of our events are in the Performing Arts and Humanities Building (PAHB), the Fine Arts Building, or the Library.

If your destination is…

…parking is available in Lot 8 (Geocode for GPS: 39.255363 -76.715370), which is located next to the Performing Arts and Humanities Building. It’s OK to park there!

(If you’re arriving during the day on a weekday for an event, limited metered parking (via credit/debit card) is available in Lot 9, behind the PAHB, or at other metered lots — look for the “P” public parking signs around Hilltop Circle to guide you to either the Walker Avenue Garage, the Administration Drive Garage, or the Commons Garage.)

If your destination is…

…daytime metered visitor parking (via credit/debit card) is available on the top level of the Walker Avenue Garage. To get to the Walker Avenue Garage, circle around Hilltop Circle (either direction) until you reach Walker Avenue. Take Walker Avenue toward the center of campus. The garage will be on your right, with visitor parking on the top deck.

Generally, campus roadways and parking lots (with the exception of Lot 8) require UMBC permits Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Permits are enforced year round.
